Men's Lacrosse Takes On #6 Princeton in Ivy Play Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's lacrosse team returns to Ivy League conference play to host the sixth-ranked Princeton Tigers (5-2, 1-1 Ivy League) on Saturday, April 2 at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
Saturday's game is scheduled to begin at noon and will broadcast and stream on NESN+ in New England and stream on ESPN+ outside the region. The first 300 fans in attendance will receive a Brown Athletics shirt.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown enters Saturday with a 5-3 overall record and 0-1 conference mark. After starting the season 5-1, Brown dropped games at Harvard and against UMass and look to snap a two-game skid against the Tigers.
- Brown's offense ranks 24th in the NCAA with 13.38 goals per game. Junior Devon McLane leads the Bears in goals (25) and points (41) and is tied for the team-lead in assists (16) with Darian Cook. McLane is tied for second in the conference and 12th in the NCAA with 5.12 points per game.
- Brown's man-up offense has struck for 13 goals in 27 attempts (.481) to rank second in the conference and tied for 16th in the NCAA.
- Defensively, the Bears allow 11.38 goals per game to rank 31st in the NCAA. Sophomore goalie Connor Theriault has made seven starts between the pipes and holds a .539 save percentage and 11.20 goals against average. His save percentage ranks fourth in the conference and 19th in the NCAA.
- Brown's man-down defense has allowed eight goals in 30 attempts to lead the Ivy League and rank 12th in the country.
- At the X, junior Matthew Gunty has taken the bulk of the faceoffs and holds a .544 win percentage (98-for-180). He ranks second in the Ivy League and 30th in the NCAA. Gunty leads the Bears with 52 ground balls and ranks 15th in the country with 7.43 ground balls per game.
- Princeton enters Saturday with a 5-2 overall record and 1-1 Ivy League mark, most recently falling on the road to Yale.
- The Tigers rank sixth in the NCAA per the USILA Coaches Poll and the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll.
- After opening the season with home wins over Monmouth and Binghamton, the Tigers fell at top-ranked Maryland, 15-10, before beating third-ranked Georgetown, 10-8, on the road.
- Princeton then beat third-ranked Rutgers, 16-11, before a 21-20 overtime win over sixth-ranked Penn to begin Ivy play.
- Princeton possesses the third-ranked offense in the NCAA with 16.14 goals per game. The Tigers are led by Alex Slusher's 23 goals and Chris Brown's 33 points and 13 assists. Four Tigers have more than 20 points this season and seven have 12 or more points.
- Princeton's man-up offense ranks fourth in the NCAA with 12 EMO goals in 21 attempts (.571).
- Defensively, Princeton allows 11.86 goals to rank 36th in the NCAA. Between the pipes, Erik Peters has started all seven games and holds a .553 save percentage and 12.29 goals against average. His save percentage ranks third in the conference and 14th in the NCAA.
- Princeton's man-down defense has allowed 10 goals in 23 attempts to rank 55th in the NCAA (.565).
- Tyler Sandoval has taken the bulk of the faceoffs in 2022 and holds a .559 win percentage (90-for-161). He ranks first in the Ivy League and 24th in the NCAA.
- Saturday marks the 60th meeting between Brown and Princeton in a series dating back to 1964.
- Brown holds a 27-32 all-time record against Princeton and a 16-13 record at home.
- The Bears have won the last three meetings and six of the last seven meetings dating back to 2014.
- Brown took a 14-10 road win over the Tigers in the last meeting between Brown and Princeton in 2019.
- Luke McCaleb '21 led all scorers with four goals and five points, Aughavin added a hat trick, and Cook chipped in two goals and three assists.
- Between the pipes, Phil Goss '21 recorded 16 saves in the road win. Erik Peters made 11 saves for the Tigers in the loss.
- Several Bears are on the cusp of career milestones with just over half the 2022 regular season remaining.
- Cook currently has 99 career points and 46 career assists.
- George Grell currently has 93 career points, split between 49 goals and 44 assists.
- Aughavin currently has 91 career points, split between 62 goals and 29 assists.
- Adrian Enchill currently has 83 career ground balls and looks to become the 68th Bear in program history to reach the century mark.
