
#6 Men's Crew and #1 Yale Square Off For Albert Cup on Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The sixth-ranked Brown men's crew team continues the spring slate with a dual race against the top-ranked Yale Bulldogs Saturday on Lake Housatonic in Derby, Connecticut.
Saturday's races are set to begin at 10:30 a.m. with the fourth varsity race. The competition will stream on ESPN+ in the United States and on Stretch Internet internationally. The races will continue in 15 minute intervals with the 2V at 10:45 a.m., the 1V at 11 a.m., the 3V at 11:15 a.m., and the 5V at 11:30 a.m.
The Bears and Bulldogs renew the Albert Cup rivalry for the first time since 2019 on Saturday on Lake Housatonic. Yale retained the Cup with the victory in 2019 on the Seekonk and look to hold onto the trophy for another season.
Brown enters the weekend after opening the season with three wins over Navy and Boston University last Sunday (Mar. 27) on Lake Carnegie. Brown's top-three crews all won their respective races with the 4V and 5V both finishing second.
Brown 1V posted a time of 5:52.47 for a five-second victory over the Terriers and a seven-second win over the Midshipmen.
For Yale, Saturday marks the season-opener after competing in a pair of events last Fall. The Bulldogs' top boat finished first at the Head of the Housatonic, finishing ahead of Brown's top boat in fifth place. Saturday marks Yale's first spring race in nearly three years.
In the IRA Coaches Poll, Brown received 212 votes to rank sixth in the first poll of 2022. Yale led all programs with 270 votes and eight first-place votes to earn the top spot. Looking past the Bulldogs, Brown hits the Seekonk next weekend for the first time this season to race against fifth-ranked Harvard. The Bears and Crimson will compete for the Stein Cup next Saturday (Apr. 9) with the first race scheduled for 1:40 p.m.
