Softball sweeps Ivy League Awards

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown softball swept the Ivy League weekly awards after going 4-1 over the last weekend. Katie O'Leary was named Player of the Week, Lauren Innerst was named Pitcher of the Week and Alexis Guevara was tabbed Rookie of the Week.
O'Leary was tabbed Player of the Week after leading the team with four RBI and tying for the team lead with six hits. O'Leary has two hits in three of the five games over the weekend, added a double and a triple and scored three runs. O'Leary also did not commit an error in 16 attempts while holding down the fort at third base.
Innerst earned Pitcher of the Week honors while picking up two wins and collecting a save. Innerst finished the weekend with 8.2 innings pitched and two earned runs, while striking out two batters. The senior allowed hitters to hit just .188.
Guevara picked up Rookie of the Week shining at both the plate and in the circle. Guevara finished the weekend with a .500 batting average with five hits and four runs and posted a .545 on base percentage. In the circle, Guevara finished 1-0 with a team-high 9.1 innings pitched, four strikeouts and had a 1.93 ERA.
Brown will open up its home schedule with a game against Providence on Wednesday, March 9 at 3:30 p.m. at the Brown Softball Field.
