Scouting the Bears (4-2, 1-0 Ivy)
- Winners of three straight, the Bears' most recent victory came last Thursday in a 22-2 showing against Central Connecticut. A season-high 12 different players scored for the Bears as Claire Jeschke led the way with a career performance, netting six goals and adding three assists as well. Maggie Fowler, Mia Mascone, and Gabby Sartori all also scored multiple times for the Bears.
- Jeschke now leads the team on the season in both assists (11) and points (22). The 11 assists are already a career-high, while her 22 points are just two away from tying her career-best mark of 24 that she set as a freshman.
- Six games into the season, the Bears appear in the top 26 in the country across multiple stat categories. They are 18th in draw control percentage at .564, 25th in draw controls per game at 15.33, and 26th in clear percentage at .899.
- Four of Stony Brook's six games so far this season have been against ranked opposition, with the Seawolves going 2-2 in such contests. To open the seaon, they fell to No. 3 Syracuse by one goal, before bouncing back to defeat No. 11 Florida and No. 16 John Hopkins with a loss to #5 Nonwestern in between.
- Their last game was a 12-6 victory over a good Hofstra team. Tied at two late in the first, Stony Brook went on to score 10 of the next 14 to claim the 12-6 victory.
- Ellie Masera leads the Seawolves in most offensive categories including goals (23), points (29), shots on goal (32) and free position goals (6).
- One of the few knocks on Stony Brook is that they have allowed their opponents to clear at a .953 success rate. If their opponents counted as one singular team, .953 would be the second-best mark in the nation.
- The Bears and Seawolves have met twice in program history, splitting the meetings at one game apiece.
- Stony Brook won the first-ever matchup 10-9 back in 2007, before Brown responded in 2008 with a 15-8 victory.
