Baseball to Open Home Schedule with Three Games this Weekend

UPDATE: Saturday's game has been canceled due to inclement weather. Sunday's games will be played as scheduled.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. β Saturday will mark 1,048 days since the Brown baseball team last played a home game at Attanasio Field at Murray Stadium. A day earlier than originally expected, the team will return home on Saturday for the first time in overΒ 34 months when it will host Holy Cross for a 10 a.m. first pitch.

The Bears will then host a split doubleheader on Sunday against Holy Cross at 11:30 a.m. and Northeastern at 3 p.m.

Originally scheduled to be played in Boston, Saturday's game was moved to Providence due to expected inclement weather that resulted in the shuffling of games.

Bobby Olsen will make his second start of the season in the opener against Holy Cross, holding a 3.38 ERA with 15 strikeouts over 16.0 IP this season.

Holy Cross will play a doubleheader on Friday at Northeastern before facing off against the Bears on Saturday. The Crusaders are 3-14 to start the season, with all 17 games coming on the road. HC took the final game of a three-game series last weekend against Richmond before falling at Boston College earlier this week.

Northeastern (9-7-1) enters Friday's doubleheader on a three-game winning streak, and has had some impressive wins early this season, taking down then-No. 8 NC State in a three-game sweep on the road on March 4-6, as well as handing Clemson its first loss last Sunday. Wyatt Scotti, who is expected to start against Brown, is 4-0 on the season after tossing 7.1 strong innings with 11 K's against Clemson on Sunday.
