MIAMI – Brown fell to Florida International 4-2 to close out play at the FIU Softball Invitational on Sunday (Feb. 27). Elayna Tsiouplis and Laurel Moody each hit their first home runs of the season for the Bears.

Brown (0-5) got the scoring going in the second. With one out and on the first pitch of the at bat, Tsiouplis crushed her first home run to left field to get the Bears on the board. Four pitches later, Moody hit her first-career home run to the same spot to double Brown's lead.

The Bears' lead was short-lived as FIU responded with two runs in the bottom of the second against Brown starter Lauren Innerst.

Neither team could get much offense going for the next three innings. Jaiden Ditimus, who relieved Innerst in the third inning, did not allow a hit during the next three innings.

FIU broke through in the sixth after back-to-back walks and a single loaded the bases. Alexis Guevara relieved Ditimus but walked the next two batters, just missing the plate, to bring home two runs.

After the second inning, Brown's offense could not get anything going, achieving just one hit over the last five innings.

UP NEXT
Brown will head to Houston next weekend for games against Prairie View and Houston Baptist from Friday (March 4) to Sunday (March 6).
