
Three more records fall in day three of Ivy Championships

PRINCETON – Three more school records fell as men's swimming and diving wrapped up day three at the Ivy League Championships on Friday (Feb. 25).
The first school record fell in the prelims of the 400 Individual Medley as Ben Hayes swam a time of 3:46.69, beating his own school record by almost three and a half seconds. Hayes came in third in the finals of the event with a time of 3:46.84. Both times were good for the NCAA B Cut. Lucas Scheidl posted a B Cut time, finishing seventh in the event (3:50.68).
Jack Kelly bested his school record in the 100 breaststroke that he set earlier in the year. Kelly swam a program record time of 52.70 in the prelims before finishing fourth in the finals with a time of 52.82. Vincent Huang swam a B Cut time of 54.26 to win the B Final and Harrison Powe came second in the B Final with a time of 54.39.
The last program record to fall was in the 1000 freestyle as Nicholas Ortega touched the wall in 9:01.96. Ortega finished sixth overall in the event for the Bears. Aiden Wilson finished ninth (9:02.97) and Andrew Berzolla took 11th (9:06.54). Mason Romantic's time of 9:12.77 was good for 14th and Carlos Munoz Renteria finished in 20th with a time of 9:23.03.
Horace Qiao was lone Bear in the 100 butterfly with an eighth-place finish, clocking a time of 47.59.
Michael Lincoln posted an NCAA B Cut time in the 200 freestyle, finishing 10th with a time of 1:36.15. KJ Losee finished 12th with a time of 1:37.62. Lucas Hess (1:38.08) and Tyler Lu (1:38.97) finished 17th and 22nd, respectively.
In the 100 backstroke, Reid Arwood finished with a time of 48.11 to finish in seventh. Jerry O'Mara took 14th with a time of 49.01.
The night finished with the 400 medley relay and the team of Arwood, Kelly, Qiao and Lincoln finished in sixth with a time of 3:13.55.
Trevor Labuda qualified for the finals of the men's 3-meter, finishing in third with a score of 344.30.
Overall, the Bears are sitting in fourth place through 14 events.
The final day of competition will take place on Saturday (Feb. 26) with prelims beginning at 11 a.m. and finals starting at 6 p.m.
