Scouting the Bears (1-0, 0-0 IVY)
- The Bears were led in their win over Bryant by Claire Jeschke and her three goals and career-high four assists. Mia Mascone, Maggie Fowler, and Jackie Mason all scored twice and Leah Caputo recorded four points from one goal and three assists.
- Brown won 16 draw controls versus Bryant's 13 and were successful on 19 of its 23 clear attempts. The groundball battle was even with both teams grabbing 12.
- The Bears will be looking to start the season 2-0 for the eighth time in the last nine years. The only time in that span they have not done so was when they dropped an overtime contest at Ohio State in the second game of the 2019 season.
- Through two games this season, Hofstra has been led by Taylor Mennella and Katie Whelan who have each recorded four goals and one assist. Of the Prides' 20 goals so far this season, an assist has only been recorded on four.
- Jess Smith has played both games in goal and has posted a 9.06 goals against average and a .538 save percentage.
- Hofstra is 2-2 in its last four games against Ivy League competition. The Pride beat Columbia in the 2019 and 2018 seasons, while falling to Dartmouth twice during those same years.
- Brown leads the all-time series over Hofstra with an 8-3 record.
- The two sides have not faced off since 2009, a game that resulted in an 11-7 Hofstra victory.
- The Bears' last win in the series came in 1996.
