
Brown Dominates Jumps on Saturday at Giegengack Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Brown's men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up a two-meet weekend on Saturday evening at the Giegengack Invitational at Yale, and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University.
Junior Zach Love highlighted the day for the Brown men at Yale by setting a pair of PRs in the 60 meters and triple jump, while winning the long jump and finishing second in the triple jump. The women's team was led by freshman Jada Joseph who won both the high jump and long jump, and sophomore Chiamaka Odenigbo who won the triple jump and took runner-up in the 60m hurdles.
The men's team swept the top two spots in the long jump, triple jump and high jump, while the women took the top three places in the high jump, first and third places in the long jump, and three of the top four spots in the triple jump.
YALE GIEGENGACK INVITATIONAL - SATURDAY
Abayomi Lowe finished fourth overall in the finals of the 60 meter dash with a new personal-record time of 7.08. Abayomi Lowe also qualified for the finals after setting a new PR in the prelims at 7.16 seconds.
The Bears dominated the field in the long jump, sweeping the top four spots with Love leading the way for Brown with a season-PR of 7.21 meters. Junior Altan Mitchell followed in second at 7.11m, sophomore John McNeil placed third at 6.92 meters and sophomore Sam Hurcomb placed fourth at 6.84 meters.
McNeil led the way to win the high jump by hitting the 2.00-meter mark, with Numan Maloney (1.95m) taking second. In the triple jump, Sidarth Raman (14.76m) and Love (14.20m) held the top two spots atop the podium and each set new PRs in the event.
In the throws, freshman Tyler Gurth set two new season and college PRs in the weight throw (14.83m) and shot put (14.10m).
On the women's side, Odenigbo and Brooke Ury each had strong showings in the finals of the 60 meter hurdles, with Odenigbo finishing runner-up and Ury taking fifth. Odenigbo's prelim time of 8.72 ranks fifth all-time at Brown, and Ury's prelim time of 8.78 ranks seventh on the all-time list.
The women also had strong showings in the jumps, with three rookies sweeping the podium in the high jump with Joseph leading the way at 1.72 meters, setting a new collegiate PR. Rudecia Bernard took second at 1.67m, and Lily Reynolds finished third after clearing 1.62m.
Joseph (5.73m) also took gold in the long jump, with Scott (5.61m) landing on the podium in third place.
Over in the triple jump, Odenigbo (12.00m) took home gold with Scott finishing in third place with a new PR of 11.80m. Lauren Stern finished just off the podium with a strong fourth place leap of 11.48m.
In the weight throw, freshman Sophia Gallucci PR'ed in second place at 17.53m, the fourth-ranked throw in program history.
BU DAVID HEMERY VALENTINE INVITATIONAL – SATURDAY (MEN)
Sophomore Jack Kelley PR'ed at 48.85 in the 400 meters. In the 1,000 meters, Aaron Siff-Scherr placed 14th out of 66 in personal-record time of 2:27.74. Ben McCoy set a new personal best in the mile with a time of 4:12.62. Junior Nate Price ran a time of 8:27.75 in the 3,000 meters, as did Griffin McCauley in 8:15.15.
BU DAVID HEMERY VALENTINE INVITATIONAL – FRIDAY (WOMEN)
Sophomore Cecilia Marrinan set a new PR in the 200 meters in 25.40, placing 46th out of 228. Sophomore Emma Gallant set a new collegiate-best of 59.23 in the 400 meters. Sarah Reichheld ran a time of 3:04.40 in the 1,000 meters to set a new PR, and senior Katherine Dokholyan (9:49.81) PR'ed in the 3,000m.
Brown will return to action on its home track next Saturday when it hosts the annual Brown Invitational.
