PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sofia Yee-Wadsworth led Brown fencing with eight individual wins at the 2021 Ivy League Round Robins, that finished up on Sunday at the Olney-Margolies Athletic Center.
Yee-Wadsworth went 8-10 in the epee, posting the highest-individual place for Brown at eighth. Anika Breker and Casey Chan each had the second-most wins on the team over the weekend with seven. Breker competed in the women's foil and finished 12th overall in the event with a 7-10 record. Chan was 7-11 in the women's saber for a 13th-place finish.
"Women's fencing, supported by the Men's club team, fought bravely in the face of overwhelming odds in this year's Ivy League Championships," said head coach Alex Ripa. "Although we were unable to squeeze out any victories, we earned many individual bouts, and the team performed like champions. The energy from the alumni, parents, and fans was sky-high and very much appreciated by our developing team. We are looking forward to next season's contest!"
As a team, Brown's closest defeats came in the foil against Harvard, losing 5-4, and falling by the same margin to Yale in the epee.
