Grace Ladd named softball captain for 2022 season

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown softball coach Kate Refsnyder has announced that Grace Ladd has been elected as captain by her teammates for the 2022 season.
"Grace has shown tremendous leadership qualities since returning to Providence after taking last year off," said Refsnyder. "She has been a great teammate, terrific communicator and truly has the team's best interest in mind."
Ladd, a senior pitcher from Boulder, Colo. Holds a 3.78 ERA in 39 appearances, starting 13 games. Ladd pitched a career-high 41.2 innings in the 2019 season with 19 strikeouts in 10 starts and posted one complete game.
Ladd missed most of her first two season due to injury and was forced to have surgery after her sophomore season. Ladd's junior season, her first healthy season of her career, was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic. The senior took off last season in order to play a full season this year.
Ladd and the rest of the Bears will begin their season on Friday, Feb. 25 against Drexel at a tournament hosted by Florida International.
