
Bears pick up five wins in season-opening meet at Yale

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's swimming and diving picked up five individual wins in the season opening meet at Yale on Friday. The Bears fell to the Bulldogs 184.5-115.5 in the team scores.
"I was pleased with the level of toughness I saw in a lot of our races as our women squared up against a talented Yale roster," said head coach Kate Kovenock. "We're excited for the opportunity to get right back up tomorrow to race again."
Jenna Reznicek had a strong first meet of her year with a wins in the 100 and 200 backstrokes. Reznicek was also part of the second-place 200 medley relay team with Ellie Brault, Zehra Bilgin and Morgan Lukinac.
Brown's first individual win of the day came from Sara Barrett, who won the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:03.05, winning the event by more than eight seconds. Barrett also took second place in the 500 freestyle.
Kelly Dolce won her first individual event of her collegiate career, picking up a win in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:50.65. Dolce also finished second in the 100 freestyle.
Brown's final win came in the 200 IM with Anna Podurgiel touching the wall in 2:04.39.
Sam Scott earned a second-place finish in the 50 free and Bilgin was second in the 100 butterfly.
On the boards, Elena Yeh was the top diver for the Bears with a second-place finish in the 3-meter (297.98) and a fourth-place finish in the 1-meter (287.18).
UP NEXT
Brown will head down to Princeton for a double-dual against Princeton and Dartmouth on Saturday. The meet is set to begin at 12 p.m.
