PRINCETON, N.J. – Brown women's swimming and diving (1-2, 1-2 Ivy) picked up a 230-57 win over Dartmouth (0-2, 0-2 Ivy) on Saturday at the Princeton Double-Dual. The Bears fell to Princeton (2-0, 2-0 Ivy) 167-132.
"By design, the front half of our dual schedule is as challenging as it gets in the league," said head coach Kate Kovenock, Mary Ann Lippitt Women's Swimming/Diving Coaching Chair. "For this team to become what it can be when championships begin, we need to test ourselves and I was so encouraged by the level of toughness our women put on display. Not only did we see aggressive racing, we saw individuals put new strategies and techniques to the test in some high-pressure situations. Our divers were also able to turn things around after a tough Friday. Resiliency will be a difference maker down the road."
Brown finished at the top of six events on Saturday, earning victories in the 1000 yard free (Sara Barrett), 100 backstroke (Jenna Reznicek), 100 breaststroke (Catherine Yu), 200 yard butterfly (Sumner Chmielewski) 400 yard IM (Chmielewski) and the 400 yard free relay (Yvonne Jia, Anna Podurgiel, Kelly Dolce and Morgan Lukinac).
Reznicek posted the fastest backstroke time in the 200 medley (25.35).
