19-0 Run to Begin Second Half Leads Women’s Basketball to Third Consecutive Win

LOWELL, Mass. – Brown dominated the third quarter, outscoring the Riverhawks 36-12 en route to a 67-56 victory on Saturday afternoon in the Costello Athletic Center. The win extended the Bears' win streak to three.
The second half was all Brown as the Bears began the third quarter on a 19-0 run to take a 15-point lead into the fourth. The run included Brown taking its first lead of the game.
Brown shot 68.4 percent from the field in the third and forced 14 turnovers on 12 steals, a quarter-high for the Bears. Mackenzie Leahy recorded four of her five in the period. Kyla Jones posted 19 points in the quarter.
"It's always meaningful to see your team respond to challenging situations," said Monique LeBlanc, Elizabeth F. Turner '98 Coaching Chair for Women's Basketball. "Everyone answered the call in the second half. We were aggressive and attacked, and our bench energy was fantastic."

Jones led the Bears with 29 points on 11-of-18 shooting and continues to pace the Ivy League in points. Gianna Aiello picked up nine rebounds and remains at No. 2 in the league in boards while adding a career-high six steals and three blocked shots. Grace Arnolie followed with 17 points and four steals in her first collegiate start and Leahy posted 10 points. Charlotte Jewel dished out five assists and did not commit a turnover.
FIRST HALF
The Riverhawks held a 29-20 edge at the half despite Brown's defense forcing 11 turnovers. Jones led Brown with eight points and four rebounds, Aiello registered three steals and Arnolie finished the opening stanza with six points. For UMass Lowell, Kaylen Banwareesingh was 5-of-9 for 14 points and Jaliena Sanchez had eight assists and four steals.
