Field Hockey Returns to Conference Play to Host Columbia Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (8-2, 1-1 Ivy League) return to conference play to host the Columbia Lions (2-7, 0-2 Ivy League) on Saturday (Oct. 8) at Goldberger Family Field. The Bears play just a single game over a weekend for the first time this season.
Saturday's game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown enters the weekend with an 8-2 overall record and 1-1 Ivy League mark. The Bears sit even with Yale in fourth in the conference.
- As a team, Brown ranks second in the conference with 2.80 goals scored per game. The Bears have already surpassed the team goals total from 2021 and 2019 through 10 games this season.
- Lexi Pellegrino leads the Bears with nine goals and 21 points through 10 games. She is tied for the Ivy League lead in goals alongside Princeton's Beth Yaeger, the reigning Ivy League Player of the Year. Her 21 points rank second in the conference, trailing only Yaeger.
- Lindsey Ross and Mikayla Walsh are tied for the team-lead with eight assists apiece. They both rank second in the Ivy League in assists, again trailing Yaeger.
- Between the pipes, Jodie Brine has started all 10 games for the Bears and holds a 1.28 goals against average and .759 save percentage. Brine's goals against average and save percentage both rank third in the league.
- Columbia enters the weekend with a 2-7 overall record and 0-2 Ivy League mark. The Lions are looking for their first conference win of the season alongside Dartmouth and Penn.
- As a team, Columbia ranks seventh in the Ivy League with 1.33 goals scored per game.
- Maya Walker leads the Lions with five goals and 11 points through nine games. Sophie Rockefeller and Annabelle Brodeur are tied for the team-lead with two assists apiece.
- Between the pipes, Katie Wimmer has started all nine games and holds a 2.78 goals against average and a .731 save percentage.
- Columbia's defense ranks seventh in the conference with 2.78 goals against per game.
- Saturday's game marks the 25th meeting between the programs in a series dating back to 1997.
- The Bears took a 1-0 win over the Lions last season in New York with Brine recording a six-save shutout.
