PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown field hockey team (0-1, 0-0 Ivy) fell 3-0 to No. 9 UConn (3-0, 0-0 Big East) on Friday afternoon at Goldberger Family Field.

The Huskies opened the scoring 4:22 into the contest on a penalty corner opportunity, they mustered two first quarter shots while holding the Bears to zero.

UConn doubled its lead 1:19 in the second quarter behind a goal from another penalty corner opportunity. Brown goalkeeper Ellie Parker made her first save of the contest in the second quarter, she finished the season opener with eight.

The Bears came out aggressively when the third quarter started, they mustered four shots and two penalty corner chances in the opening 9:08 of the frame. Parker made two saves in the third.

The Huskies extended its lead to 3-0 3:23 into the fourth quarter, Parker went on to make five more saves in the fourth quarter.

Kirsten Smith and Lizzie Loftus led the way for Brown with two shots each, both players also had one on goal.

Brown will be back in action on Sunday, Sept. 6 when it welcomes Quinnipiac to Goldberger Family Field at 2 p.m.
