PROVIDENCE, R.I. – After competing at six different meets throughout the season, the Brown men's and women's cross country programs are set to compete in Friday's Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championships at Van Cortland Park in The Bronx.
The women's six-kilometer race will start off the day at 11 a.m., followed by the men's 8K at noon. The top seven runners in each race will earn First Team All-Ivy honors, while runners 8-14 will earn Second Team. An awards ceremony will follow the conclusion of both races.
ABOUT BROWN
Sophomore Evan Sherman has led the men's pack in all four of the races he's competed in this fall, including taking first overall at last week's Rothenberg Run (5K-15:15.9), and placing seventh overall out of 167 runners at the Suffolk Short Course Classic in Boston back on September 2. Senior Nate Price led the Bears at the NEICAAA Championships and placed second on the team (fifth overall) at the Rothenberg Run in his only two races of the season. Sophomore Justin Hickey finished eighth overall and second on the team at the Suffolk Short Course Classic and has scored team points in all five meets.
On the women's side, Brown is coming off a victory at the Rothenberg Run last weekend, narrowly missing a perfect score with 16 points. Sophomore Isolde McManus has led Brown's pack in four of her five meets, and took second on the team at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown. Senior Emma Madgic has scored points in four meets, and first-year Emily Mrakovcic has placed in Brown's top three in each of her three races, including leading the pack at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown.
