PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's rugby fell to Harvard Saturday at Marvel Field in the final home game of the 2022 15s season.
The Bears honored their four seniors prior to the game for their contributions to Brown Women's Rugby and Brown University over the last four years: Emerson Goodrich, Erin Jessop, Kate Molloy, and Mahdia Parker.
Brown women's rugby also honored the life and legacy of Coach Kathy Flores, who passed away a year ago yesterday.
"It was a beautiful day in Providence to celebrate the life and legacy of Kathy Flores," said Kathleen Flores Head Women's Rugby Coach Rosalind Chou. "We honored four seniors who have given so much to the team and fought to the end. The team has so much heart and drive and we look forward to continuing our amazing year at Dartmouth next week.
"Kendall Cunningham played some very fierce defense and Mahdia Parker is an incredible attack threat. It was nice to see the squad play together and through adversity. We are so proud of the full effort they give each day."
Parker put the Bears up early with her fifth try of the season six minutes into the match following a scrum. Julia Murray hit the conversion to put the Bears ahead 7-0.
The Crimson responded and touched down four tries before the first half ended to take a 26-7 lead into the break.
Harvard extended their lead in the second half before Molloy recorded her second try of the season in the 76th minute and Murray added the kick to push the score to 45-14.
Brown heads to Hanover, New Hampshire to square off against the defending-NIRA 15s Champion Dartmouth next Saturday (Oct. 29) at 11 a.m. at Brophy Field. Next Saturday's game will stream on ESPN+.
