
Women’s Team Wins Title, Sherman takes Gold at Rothenberg Run

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The Brown women's cross country team took home the team title, and Evan Sherman won the individual title to help lead the men's team to a second place finish at Brown's annual Rothenberg Run on Friday afternoon. For the first time, the meet was hosted at Highland Park in Attleboro, Mass.
The women's team narrowly missed out on a perfect score, taking four of the top six spots overall in the three-kilometer race that had 36 finishers. Brown finished with 16 points, followed by URI with 46 points and UMass Boston with 85. The race also featured three runners from Providence College.
Sophomore Isolde McManus led the way for Brown by finishing runner-up overall in 11:04.0. Senior Sarah Reichheld (11:10.3) finished fourth overall, followed by freshman Emily Mrakovcic (11:11.6) in fifth, Emma Madgic (11:12.9) in sixth and junior Isa Stronski (11:19.6) in ninth. Junior Stephanie Kriss (11:20.3) took 10th, followed by senior Lily Harding (11:25.6) in 12th place to round out Brown's top seven.
Sherman led the field on the men's side, cruising to a nearly 12-second victory to take home the individual title with a 5K time of 15:15.9. Senior Nate Price finished fifth overall in 15:37.1, with Colby Zarle (9th/15:55.2) and Jason Markopoulos (16:04.8) rounding out the top 10 overall. Justin Hickey (13th/16:30.0) was the fifth Bear across the finish line, followed by John Farrell (16th/16:47.0) to complete Brown's lineup.
As a team, the men took second place with 31 points, just behind URI who had 29 points. UMass Boston took third with 68 points.
The Bears will now set their sights on next weekend's Ivy League Heps, which will be held at Van Cortland Park in The Bronx next Friday, October 28.
