Women's Rugby Heads to Army for Friday Night NIRA Match

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's rugby (3-1-1) continues NIRA conference play with a road match against Army West Point Black Knights (3-1), scheduled for Friday (Oct. 14) at 7 p.m. Tomorrow night's match will stream through GoArmyWestPoint.com.
Friday night's game is a make-up from the originally scheduled meeting on September 24.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown enters Friday with a 3-1-1 overall record and holding a three-game win streak with victories over Princeton (Sept. 17), Mount St. Mary's (Oct. 1), and LIU (Oct. 8). Brown opened the season with a loss at Quinnipiac and tie against Sacred Heart.
- Both Brown and Army look to add another conference win to keep pace with Harvard (4-0) and Dartmouth (4-0) atop the NIRA standings.
- With two tries against LIU last weekend, junior Noelle Lewis leads the Bears with eight tries on the season. Four other Bears have recorded multiple tries in 2022: Akilah Cathey (6), Nikki Lynch (5), Mahdia Parker (4), and Morgan Cunningham (2).
- Freshman Julia Murray leads the Bears in the kicking game with 15 conversions. Erin Jessop (3) and Kendall Cunningham (1) have also hit conversions on the season.
- Defensively, Brown has held opponents to 24 or less points in 4-of-5 matches this season and have held opponents scoreless twice.
- Army enters Friday with a 3-1 overall record after opening the season with wins over Mount St. Mary's (Sept. 3), Princeton (Sept. 10), and Quinnipiac (Sept. 17) before falling to defending-NIRA 15s Champion Dartmouth last weekend.
- The Black Knights dominated at the start with a 62-7 victory over the Mountaineers and an 87-0 victory over the Tigers.
- Army edged out Quinnipiac with a 24-19 road win in a defensive battle in Hamden, Connecticut to improve to 3-0.
- Last weekend, Dartmouth took a 19-3 halftime lead and held off the Black Knights in the second half to hand Army a 24-15 road loss.
- Codi Butt leads the Black Knights with six tries while Alissa Eisenhart leads the team with 18 conversions in 2022.
- Friday night marks just the second meeting between Brown and Army in NIRA 15s series history.
- The Bears and Black Knights opened the 2021 season with a 19-19 tie at Marvel Field with the Bears erasing a 19-5 deficit with second half tries from Parker and Kate Molloy.
