NEWTON, Mass. – The Brown men's soccer team defeated Boston College 1-0 Tuesday evening. The Bears, who improved to 6-3-1 on the season, equaled their win total from last year with seven games still to go in their 2022 campaign. The Eagles fell to 3-5-3 on the year.
It was Brown's first win over an ACC opponent since taking down BC in 2013.
"We're very proud of the boys for their efforts tonight," assistant coach Andy Parker said. "It's never easy to go on the road to an ACC school and get three points, but the boys executed the game plan to perfection."
Kojo Dadzie recorded the only goal of the night in the 22nd minute of action. From just inside the 18-yard box, the junior let a right-footed shot rip diagonally through the defense that found its way into the lower right corner of the goal.
The Bears were outshot in the first half, but Henrik Weiper made three saves in the frame to go into halftime with the lead. The freshman would end up totaling four saves on the night in his fourth shutout victory of the season.
Brown faced some adversity early in the second half as a red card in the 64th minute forced the Bears to play down a man for the remaining 26 minutes.
"When things got difficult going down a man with close to 30 minutes left," Parker said. "The guys were resilient, dug in, and did the extra things they needed to do to secure the three points."
Despite playing with 10, Brown's defense was able to clog up the Eagles' passing lanes and even created moments of sustained possession for the Bears.
After the red card, Brown only allowed BC to take three shots for the remainder of the game, none of which went on goal.
The Bears will now return home for an Ivy League matchup against Harvard this Saturday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m.
