Women's basketball continues Ivy play against Harvard

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Ivy League play continues for the Brown women's basketball team as the Bears play host to Harvard on Friday (Jan. 7). The game against the Crimson will begin at 6 p.m. at the Pizzitola Sports Center.

ABOUT THE GAME
Brown and Harvard will meet on Friday for the first of two games this season. Both the Bears and Crimson are coming into the game having dropped their Ivy League openers. Harvard leads the all-time series with Brown 56-34 and has won 11-straight games. This will be the 91st all-time meeting between the two teams.
ABOUT BROWN
- Brown comes into Friday's game having lost 37-66 to Penn in the Ivy League opener. Maddie Mullin led the Bears with 11 points in the loss.
- Freshman Isabella Mauricio leads the Bears with 12.0 points per game and is 11th in the Ivy League in points per game. Mauricio is 8th in the league in three-point field goal percentage (34.8). Mauricio has scored at least eight points in all but one game this season and since being held scoreless against Wagner on Nov. 20, has scored in double-figures in five of her eight games, while averaging 12.9 points per game during that stretch. Mauricio has hit at least one three point field goal in all but one game this season.
- Sophomore Kyla Jones had her streak of four-straight games with at least three steals ended against Penn as Jones finished with just one swipe against the Quakers.
- Freshman Amanda Latkany has pulled down at least six rebounds in six of her last seven games. Latkany has been moving the ball effectively for the Bears finishing with three assists against St. John's and four assists against Penn.

- Brown has five games with double-digit steals this season, including 20 against Fisher. The fewest totals for steals in a game this season are five, which has taken place in each of the last two games.
- Brown leads the league with 10.2 steals per game with Kyla Jones leading the league at 2.92 steals per game. Jones is 12th in the NCAA with 38 steals on the season and is 21st in NCAA in steals per game.
- Brown currently sits 37th in the NCAA in steals (133) and 73rd in steals per game.
Hosting a block party
- Brown's defense is currently 60th in the NCAA with 4.3 blocks per game and the Bears' 56 total blocks are 48th in the nation.
- Mya Murray is currently 32nd in the NCAA with 2.0 blocks per game and her 24 total blocks are the 35th most across the country. Murray has finished with at least one block in 10 of her 12 games this season, including three games with at least four blocked shots.
- As a team, Brown has blocked a shot in every game this season wth two games (vs. Wagner, vs. Providence) with eight blocked shots.
Defense locks down Fisher College
- Brown beat Fisher College 90-31 in its last outing. The Bears held Fisher to under 10 points in three of the first quarters. It was the first time since Nov. 19, 2015 against Mount Ida that Brown had held its opponents to single digits in three quarters. Brown held Mount Ida to single digits in all four quarters of a 114-28 win.
- Brown's 31 points allowed to Fisher are the lowest since holding Mount Ida to 28 points. The 59-point win is also the largest margin of victory for the Bears since the Mount Ida win (86).
- The Bears defense picked up 20 steals against Fisher. It was the most steals for Brown in a game since grabbing 21 against Central Connecticut State on Nov. 6, 2018.
ABOUT HARVARD
- The Crimson lost 68-50 at Princeton to begin its Ivy League schedule. Harvard scored just nine points on one made field goal in the third quarter against the Tigers.
- Harvard shot 16.7% from three-point range and just 31.7% from the field against Princeton.
- Three players scored in double-figures for the Crimson against Princeton with Harmoni Turner leading the way, posting a 20-point, 11-rebound double-double. McKenzie Forbes (14) and Lola Mullaney (10) also reached double-figures. No other player in the game scored more than two points.
- Harvard has done a good job holding on to the ball this season, only committing 13 turnovers per game, while forcing its opponents into 18.3 per contest.
