Women's basketball hosts Princeton, travels to Yale over weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's basketball will face off against Princeton at home on Saturday (Jan. 15) before hitting the road for the first time in the Ivy League at Yale on Monday (Jan. 17).

SCOUTING BROWN
In the game against the Crimson, Brown dressed eight healthy players. Isabella Mauricio led Brown with a career-high 22 points, going a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line. Mauricio has now led the Bears in scoring a team-high seven times this season and the freshman is the only player on the team to have two 20+ point games this season. Mauricio currently leads the team with 12.7 points per game.
The loss against Harvard was the first game this season that Brown never held a lead. The Bears were also down 34 points at one time during the fourth quarter, matching the largest deficit they have faced this season.
For the first time this season, Brown did not record a blocked shot against Harvard. The Bears were missing Mya Murray, Amanda Latkany and Chantal Nadia from the lineup, the top three shot blockers for Brown this season.
In Brown's win over St. John's, the Bears moved to 4-0 on the season in games decided by five points or less. Brown also remains undefeated in games where the Bears have the lead with five minutes remaining.
The Bears were the only team in the NCAA to have its starting lineup in the first game of the season made up of five players that had not played in a college game before. Brown's starting lineup consisted of four sophomores and a freshman. Brown's 2020-21 season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
SCOUTING PRINCETON
Princeton comes into the game on a three-game winning streak and holds an overall record of 10-4 on the season. The Tigers are 2-0 in Ivy League play with wins over Harvard and Cornell.
Abby Meyers is leading the way for the Tigers with 18.6 points per game and Julia Cunningham is also scoring in double figures this season at 13.6 points per contest.
Ellie Mitchell is pulling down 10.0 rebounds per contest with Cunningham (6.3) and Meyers (6.1) helping the Tigers hold a six rebound advantage per contest.
Princeton jumps on their opponents early, having outscored their opponents 212-151 in the first quarter and 215-185 in the second quarter.
SCOUTING YALE
Yale plays at Cornell on Saturday (Jan. 15) before taking on the Bears. The Bulldogs come into the weekend with an 8-6 record and a 1-1 record in Ivy League play. Yale beat Harvard 80-73 on Saturday (Jan. 8).
Yale has three players in double figures on the season with Camilla Emsbo leading the way, averaging 15.4 points per game. Emsbo also leads the team with 10.4 rebounds, 2.6 blocks per game and a 52.4 field goal percentage.
Jenna Clark (13.2 ppg) and Klara Astrom (10.8) are also scoring in double figures. Clark is tops on the team with 6.1 assists per game, while Astrom leads the team with 1.8 steals per contest.
