Cross Country to Compete in Beantown on Friday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – After a week off from competition, the Brown men's and women's cross country programs will return to action at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown at Franklin Park in Boston on Friday afternoon.
Due to expected inclement weather, the start time for the races have been moved up three hours from when they were originally scheduled. The women's featured 5K race is now set to get underway at 12 p.m., followed by the men's featured 8K run at 12:30. Brown will also have several runners from both teams compete in the co-ed Combined Open Race which starts a 1:15. There will be 24 schools from across the country that will have teams competing, including Ivy League foes Columbia, Dartmouth, Harvard and Yale, along with UConn, Northeastern, Boston College, Syracuse, North Carolina and Duke among others. Sophomore Evan Sherman has taken home the individual title in both races on the men's side, while Emily Kompelien, Katherine Dokholyan and Tevah Gevelber have led the Brown pack in both races on the women's side.
