Women's tennis competes at Brown Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's tennis team completed competition at its season-opening tournament the Brown Invitational.
"It was great to see our players finally competing again," head coach Lucie Schmidhauser said. "As I continue to emphasize, our team's goal is to fight for every point and to find a way to put our opponents under pressure with gritty and fearless play. This weekend's competition demonstrated that many of our players are making excellent progress in terms of how they are competing.
"Britany Lau really stepped up to the challenge as our top player in the tournament and showed great ability to stay composed under pressure and figure out a way to defeat her opponents. Sophia Reddy and Ali Benedetto also battled hard and they were able to problem solve well when their opponents' game styles created challenges for them.
"Overall, there were a lot of positive takeaways from this event and everyone is excited to get back on the practice court to improve their games before the Yale Invite next weekend."
Brittany Lau, Sophia Reddy, and Lindsey Hofflander combined to win Flight A as they went a combined 6-0 in singles matches. Lau and Hofflander were also undefeated in the two doubles matches they competed in.
Ali Benedetto went 2-0 in Flight B singles competition.
Other teams competing this weekend included UMass, Dartmouth, Rutgers, and URI.
