PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown track and field programs opened up their indoor seasons on Saturday afternoon by hosting the 35th annual Brown Alden Invitational. The meet marked the first time the teams competed on the indoor track since March 2020.
Senior Sydney Scott won the 60m and long jump to highlight the women's side, while Altan Mitchell won both the triple and long jumps on the men's side. Freshman Evan Sherman also took home the title in the 3K in his first attempt at the distance. Overall, Brown's men's team had seven first place finishes, including five of the six field events, while the women tallied five golds.
"It means everything to be back out here," said head coach Ken Hunt. "COVID challenged everyone in different ways, and it tested our resilience and we're thankful and appreciative for the opportunity to be able to come out here and have results from our first competition. The whole coaching staff is happy with every single athlete that went out here and competed today, and the athletes that weren't able to compete today but we able to chip in by helping us work the meet."
