Wrestling completes competition at 2021 MatMen Open

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. – The Brown wrestling team completed competition at the 2021 MatMen Open Thursday. As a team, the Bears placed 17th out of 21 with a team score of 17.5
Pittsburgh, Penn, and Wisconsin rounded out the top three with scores of 121.5, 118, and 117 respectively.
The two-day event saw nine Bears compete across eight weight classes. Timothy Levine took home the most victories of any Bear as he came away victorious three times at 141 pounds. Ricky Cabanillas won twice at 149, as did Cade Wilson at 197.
Head coach Todd Beckerman on Day One: "We had a really good day. We had nine guys competing with four left wrestling in the placement round."
Beckerman on Day Two: "We had four freshmen lose in the placing round this morning. It was a tough round, but a huge accomplishment for those young guys to be in contention to place at this event."
