Brown Falls 4-3 at Saint Anselm

MANCHESTER, N.H. – In a back-and-forth game, the Brown women's hockey team fell by a score of 4-3 at Saint Anselm on Thursday evening. A goal by the Hawks with just over eight minutes remaining in regulation proved to be the difference.

The Bears will have over a week until their next game when they close out on-conference play on Friday, December 10 when they travel to face Holy Cross at 6 p.m.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Brown put a season-high 40 shots on goal, while allowing a season-low 22 shots on net.
- Senior Shay Maloney scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season in the second period.
- Freshman Meadow Carman scored her first career goal on the power play to tie the game in the second period.
- Sophomore Madie Stockfish tied the game in the third period with her third goal of the season.
- Megan Forrest, Paige Gross, Maya Mangiafico and Cassidy Piersiak all registered assists.
- Brown was 1-for-2 on the power play, and was successful on both of its penalty kills.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless opening period, Saint Anselm struck for a pair of goals in less than a minute at 7:24 and 8:14 of the second period to take a 2-0 lead.
- The Bears rallied to climb back within one with 18.4 seconds remaining in the period, when Maloney scored off an assist from Forrest to cut it to 2-1 going into the second intermission.
- Brown wasted little time in tying the game, taking advantage of an interference call and knotting the game 2-2 at the 3:23 mark on Carman's first goal.
- The Hawks retook the lead 3-2 just over five minutes later at 8:33, but Brown quickly retied it less than one minute later at 9:11, courtesy of Stockfish, who scored off of a Piersiak assist.
- Saint A's retook the lead with what proved to be the game-winning goal at 11:56 of the third and was able to hold on for the win.
- Brown held Saint Anselm without a shot on goal over the final 8:14 of regulation and outshot the Hawks 16-8 in the final period.
