Nelson takes sixth at Singlehanded Nationals

Members of the Brown coed sailing team competed this weekend at the College Sailing Singlehanded Nationals.

Sophomore Connor Nelson had the team's top finish at sixth out of 18 participants. Through the 14 races of the event, Nelson collected six top-three finishes, including a first-place finish in the second race of the event. In the end, Nelson finished with a score of 94, just six behind fifth place and 25 ahead of seventh.

Freshman Leyton Borcherding came in 13th. Â He had a pair of top-five finishes, including an event-best fourth place in the final race. Borcherding finished with a score of 166.

The final event of the fall season for the sailing team will be the ICSA Match Racer Nationals next weekend from Saturday, Nov. 13 to Sunday, Nov. 14.
