PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The coed and women's sailing teams completed another fall weekend of competition, highlighted by a pair of second place-finishes at both New England Fall Championships.
"I am really proud of our entire team and their performance on the final weekend of regular season competition," head coach John Mollicone said. "We stayed in the hunt to win both the coed and women's New England Fall Championships until the later races, and had strong performances at both the Dave Perry Team Race and Freshmen Championship."
The women came in second out of 16 teams at the Victorian Urn Trophy. Olivia Belda and Emma Montgomery took third in Division A, while Caroline Bayless, Nora Ong, and Blaire McCarthy combined for second in Division B.
The coeds took second out of 18 at the Professor Erwin Schell Trophy. Connor Nelson and Julia Reynolds claimed first place in Division A, and Jack Murphy, Madeleine McGrath, and Madeleine Montagner came in seventh in Division B.
The coed team also came in second at the Dave Perry Team Race out of four teams. Jed Bell, Brielle Willoughby, Connor Macken, and Thomas Styron served as the team's skippers with Charlotte Costikyan, Emilie Ruth, Sierra Bornheim, and Izzy Cox on the crew.
Rounding out the weekend, the Bears had teams finish in fifth and 13th out of 22 the Nickerson Trophy.
Both teams will continue competition next weekend at the ICSA Singlehanded Nationals.
