
Women's soccer hosts Princeton in huge Ivy matchup

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's soccer team will continue Ivy League play this Saturday, Oct. 9 with a 3 p.m. home matchup with Princeton.
The game is set to be a battle between two of the conference's heavyweights with both the Bears and Tigers tied for first in the league, along with Harvard, at six points.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+. Fans are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets online at BrownBears.com/tickets prior to their arrival at Stevenson-Pincince Field. Brown Athletics has moved to completely contactless ticketing, so fans should either download their digital tickets to display on a mobile device or print them at home prior to arrival.
Scouting the Bears (7-3-0, 2-0-0 IVY):

Scouting the Bears (7-3-0, 2-0-0 IVY):
- Brown is coming off its first Ivy League shutout of the season with a 2-0 win at Columbia. Ava Seelenfreund and Maesyn G'Bye scored for the Bears with Evelyn Calhoon picking up a pair of assists.
- Kayla Thompson made five saves in the game and was named the Ivy League Player of the Week, Top Drawer Soccer's National Player of the Week, and to Top Drawer Soccer's National Team of the Week. Thompson saved a PK shot in the 48th minute of action.
- The Bears will look to start Ivy League play 3-0 for just the second time in the last 26 years. They did so in 2019 on their way to an Ivy League Championship, but before that the last time they started 3-0 was in 1994, a season that also resulted in an Ivy Championship.
- The Tigers have played some very impressive soccer to this point in the season, currently riding a four-game winning streak that has seen Princeton outscore its opponents 17-1.
- The only games the Tigers have not won this season came at the hands of then-No. 23 Hofstra (2-0 loss) and then-No. 8 Georgetown (1-1 tie). Princeton did manage to take down then-No. 9 Rutgers 4-3.
- Gabi Juarez and Tatum Gee are the two seniors who lead this Tiger squad with Juarez pacing the team with six goals and four assists for 16 points with Gee right behind at five goals and four assists for 14 points.
- In goal, Grace Barbara has started nine games and posted a .97 goals against average and a .742 save percentage.
- Brown leads the all-time series against Princeton at 21-18-4, including wins the last two times out.
- In 2019, the Bears came away with a 1-0 win at Stevenson-Pincince Field. Seelenfreund headed in the game-winner in the 81st minute with assists from G'Bye and Rebecca Rosen.
- Brown outshot Princeton in the matchup 7-3 and held the 4-1 edge in shots on goal. The Bears also earned more corners than the Tigers at 5-3.
