Field Hockey Travels to Columbia for Saturday Matchup; Hosts Lafayette Sunday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown returns to Ivy League play to take on the Columbia Lions on the road Saturday (Oct. 9) before returning to Goldberger Family Field to host the Lafayette Leopards in non-conference action on Sunday (Oct. 10).
Saturday's game is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. while Sunday's contest will begin at 1 p.m. Both will be streamed on ESPN+.

- Brown heads to New York coming off back-to-back shutout wins over Dartmouth (Oct. 2) and Holy Cross (Oct. 5). Calista Manuzza recorded the shutout against the Big Green while Ella Edmonds blanked the Crusaders on Tuesday.
- Danielle van Rootselaar recorded two goals against Holy Cross and an assist against Dartmouth, pushing her point streak to six games. She leads the team with eight goals and 19 points and is second on the team with three assists. In the Ivy League, van Rootselaar is third in goals and points and leads the Ivy League in shots (74) and shots on goal (43). Nationally, she is tied for 14th in goals per game and tied for 31st in points per game.
- Lindsey Ross and Mikayla Walsh lead the team with four assists apiece.
- With the recent shutouts, Brown's defense ranks second in the conference, allowing just 1.10 goals per game. With a team .810 save percentage, Brown is second in the conference and seventh in the country, trailing nationally-ranked Harvard (.882).
- Columbia enters Saturday's Ivy League contest with a 6-3 overall record and 0-2 conference mark. After six wins to open the season, the Lions dropped games to Harvard (4-1), Cornell (5-0), and Syracuse (3-0). Both Harvard and Syracuse were nationally ranked at the time.
- Kelsey Farkas leads the Lions with four goals and 12 points in 2021. Sophie Rockefeller leads the team with five assists and is second on the team with 11 points.
- Alexa Conomikes has started all nine games for Columbia and has played every minute in goal. She holds a 1.90 goals against average and .746 save percentage with one shutout.
- Columbia's offense ranks 19th in the country with 2.56 goals scored per game. That ranks second in the conference behind only Princeton.
- Saturday's game marks the 24th meeting between the programs in a series dating back to 1997. Brown won nine of the first 10 matchups but Columbia has taken 12 of the last 13 wins, including the last three meetings in 2017, 2018, and 2019.
- Brown's last win came at home in 2016, Katarina Angus '17 scored the overtime winner off a penalty corner.
- Lafayette enters the weekend with an 8-2 overall record and 2-1 mark in Patriot League conference play. The Leopards took a 4-1 win over Holy Cross in conference play in late September.
- Felicitas Hannes leads the Leopards with seven goals while Audrey Sawers leads the team with 18 points. Eight other players have recorded multiple points in 2021.
- Hailey Abbott has started all 10 games in goal for the Leopards. She ranks eighth in the country with a 0.91 goals against average along with a .700 save percentage.
- Lafayette's offense ranks 12th in the country with 2.80 goals per game. With 7.10 penalty corners per game, the Leopards are tied for 17th in the country.
- Sunday marks the first-ever meeting between the Bears and Leopards.
