Women's, coed sailing each claim second-place finish

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The coed and women's sailing teams each took home a second-place finish during the weekend of Oct. 23-24.
The women finished in second place at the Yale Women's Interconference out of 15 teams. Blaire McCarthy and Madeleine Montagner came in eighth in Division A and Brielle Willoughby and Emilie Ruth took second in Division B to combine for the overall second-place finish.
The coed team also earned a second-place finish out of six teams at the Norman G. Reid Team race. The Bears team consisted of Jed Bell, Connor Macken, Leyton Borcherding, Savannah Young, Jacqueline Rice, Helen Horangic.
The coed team also came in eighth at the Atlantic Coast Championship and 10th at the Oberg Trophy.
At the ACC, the Bears came in eighth out of 18. Olivia Belda, Connor Nelson, Emma Montgomery, and Julia Reynolds finished in 14th in Division A and Jack Murphy and Madeline McGrath came in second in Division B.
At Oberg, Brown took 10th out of 18. Hunter Zonnenberg and Izzy Cox took fifth in Division A, Thomas Styron, Mason Stang, Lily Shore, and Savannah Young came in 13th in Division B, and Emily Mueller, Charlotte Costikyan, and Catherine Morrissette finished in eighth in Division C.
Competition continues next weekend for both teams as the women race at the Women's Um Trophy and the coed team compete at three different events.
