ITHACA, N.Y. – The Brown men's soccer team lost to Cornell 4-0 Saturday evening.
"I thought our players battled hard for large portions of the game," head coach Pat Laughlin said. "We just ran into a really talented Cornell team that did a good job of capitalizing on its opportunities."
The Bears controlled the beginning of the game, earning a pair of corner kicks in the first five minutes to put early pressure on the Big Red defense. But from there on out, the rest of the first half belonged to Cornell.
Three different players found the back of the net for the Big Red to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.
Cornell added one more in the 49th minute, but Brown was able to stifle the Big Red offense from there on out. Unfortunately for the Bears, they weren't able to get their own offense going as the game would end at 4-0.
The Big Red outshot Brown on the day 20-8. Corners were relatively even, with Cornell holding the slight 4-3 advantage.
Max Waldau made a season-high seven saves in goal.
Brown will play a pair of home games this week. On Wednesday, Oct. 27 the Bears will host Holy Cross at 7 p.m. before returning to Ivy play on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 3 p.m. against Penn.
