PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown scored a goal in the second, third, and fourth quarters to take a 3-0 Ivy League conference win over Dartmouth Saturday at Goldberger Family Field.
Brown improves to 4-5 (1-1 Ivy League) on the season while Dartmouth drops to 4-6 (0-2 Ivy League).
"Today was a really great team win and shutout, I was proud of our performance and it was good to see us play the style of hockey we are capable of," said head coach Jill Reeve. "Lindsey Ross and Celia Donner had outstanding games for us."
Emma Rosen scored the game's first goal just 45 seconds into the second quarter. After a scramble in the shooting circle, Chloe Perel found Rosen with a pass leading to the goal.
Brown stifled Dartmouth's offense in the first half, allowing just one shot to reach goalkeeper Calista Manuzza (5 saves).
The Bears doubled the lead in the waning seconds of the third quarter on the fifth Brown penalty corner of the game. Chloe Sik found Danielle van Rootselaar across the top of the circle, who ripped a shot on goal, where Imogen Govan tipped the ball past Dartmouth goalkeeper Isabella Santucci (6 saves).
Mikayla Walsh added another insurance goal for the Bears early in the fourth quarter, picking up a feed from Ross and beating Santucci with a shot from the center of the circle.
Manuzza only faced one shot in the first three quarters of the game, but made four saves in the fourth to preserve the shutout, the first of the junior's career.
The Bears finished the game with a 17-7 shot advantage and a 9-5 advantage in shots on goal. Brown also held an 11-7 edge in penalty corners. Neither team was assessed a card in the match.
Brown travels to Worcester, Massachusetts for a non-conference matchup against the Holy Cross Crusaders (4-5, 0-3 Patriot League) on Tuesday, October 6. Tuesday's game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
