Field Hockey Hosts Dartmouth in Ivy League Play Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown returns to Ivy League conference play as they host Dartmouth on Saturday (Oct. 2) at Goldberger Family Field.
Saturday's game is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+. The Bears (3-5, 0-1 Ivy) and Big Green (4-5, 0-1 Ivy) both look to snap losing streaks and pick up their first conference win of the season.
SCOUTING BROWN (3-5, 0-1 Ivy)
Saturday's game is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+. The Bears (3-5, 0-1 Ivy) and Big Green (4-5, 0-1 Ivy) both look to snap losing streaks and pick up their first conference win of the season.
SCOUTING BROWN (3-5, 0-1 Ivy)
- Brown enters Saturday's Ivy League match after dropping its conference opener at Yale and a non-conference home match against Georgetown last weekend. The Hoyas defeated the Bears in a shootout after playing 80 minutes to a 1-1 tie.
- Danielle van Rootselaar leads the team with six goals and 14 points. She also leads the Bears with 58 shots and 36 shots on goal.
- Seven other Bears have found the scoresheet in 2021 with Ana Claire Piacentini and Lindsey Ross ranking second on the team with five points apiece.
- Junior goalkeeper Jodie Brine has started all eight games for the Bears and ranks fourth in the Ivy League and 27th nationally with a .762 save percentage. With a 1.39 goals against average, Brine ranks fourth in the conference and 21st in the country.
- Brown ranks 28th in the country with a team .758 save percentage.
- Dartmouth enters Saturday match after falling to Northeastern and Cornell last weekend.
- Holley Cromwell and Bronwyn Bird are tied for the team lead with three goals apiece and Cromwell leads the Big Green with nine points. Eight other players have found the scoresheet so far in 2021.
- Isabella Santucci has started all nine games between the pipes for Dartmouth. She holds a 1.33 goals against average and .786 save percentage along with a 3-2 record. Despite the nine starts, Hatley Post has played more minutes in goal for Dartmouth and she holds a 2.00 goals against average and .714 save percentage.
- As a team, Dartmouth ranks 16th in the country with a .778 save percentage.
- Saturday marks the 45th meeting between Brown and Dartmouth in a series dating back to 1976. Dartmouth holds a 29-13-2 all-time record in the series.
- Brown holds a 3-2 record against Dartmouth in the last five meetings dating back to 2015, including the most recent meeting in 2019, a 3-1 Bears victory. Van Rootselaar had a goal and two assists in the 2019 win.
- Against opponents both teams have faced this season, Dartmouth claimed victories over Bryant and Merrimack while falling to Cal and Vermont. Brown finished with the same results against these opponents in 2021.
