PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's hockey program recently announced its team awards for the 2019-20 season.
Senior defenseman Zach Giuttari (Warwick, R.I.) received the Class of 1936 Award, which is awarded annually to the player who through sportsmanship, performance and influence contributed the most to the sport at Brown.
Giuttari, the team captain, earned Second Team All-Ivy honors for the second straight season. The Rhode Island native led the team in points and assists and signed with the Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL) at the end of the season. He paced the team in power-play points and wrapped up his career with 54 points in 121 career games.
Senior Trey Dodd (St. Louis, Mo.) was awarded the Charles A. Lanigan Memorial Trophy. This award honors the late Brown trainer and is given to the senior hockey player who shows the most improvement during his varsity career. Dodd skated in 30 contests this season, including all 22 ECAC games, and posted a career high in points.
Dodd and fellow senior Gavin Nieto (Yorba Linda, Calif.) were co-recipients of the Charles A. Robinson, Jr. Memorial Trophy for academic excellence. Honoring the late Brown Classics professor, this trophy is given annually to the hockey letterman attaining the highest degree of academic excellence for the first seven semesters. Dodd and Nieto are both three-time members of the ECAC All-Academic Team and earned AHCA All-American Scholar accolades last summer.
Seniors Brent Beaudoin (Londonderry, N.H.) and Jack Gessert (Novi, Mich.) were co-recipients of the Patrick S. Jones Memorial Trophy (Coaches' Award), awarded in honor of the former Brown hockey player. This award is given to that member of the team who generates the most spark and enthusiasm in building team spirit. Beaudoin served as an assistant captain and finished second on the team in goals, assists and points. Gessert, also an assistant captain, received the Jones Memorial Trophy for the second time in as many seasons.
Luke Krys (Ridgefield, Conn.) honored with the James H. Fullerton Trophy (Rookie-Of-The-Year). This award is given to the first-year player who in the eyes of his teammates contributed the most to the success of the team. Krys, who skated in all 31 games as a rookie defenseman, led the team in blocked shots and finished with four goals and nine points.
