#15 Men's Squash Tops #16 Williams, 6-3
2/5/2020 8:32:00 AM | Men's Squash
Providence, R.I. - Bears' head coach Stuart leGassick was thrilled with his 15th ranked men's squash team and its performance against #16 Williams with the Bears pulling away for a 6-3 win over the Ephs.
"The team is very happy with the way that they played and competed today," said leGassick. "The tone was set by an incredibly long match with senior Nicholas Pitaro who saved three match balls having been 0-2 down and finally won 3-2. The team took heart from that win and produced some outstanding squash to defeat a closely ranked team in the national rankings".
Brown captured the first three matches at the top of the ladder with junior Max Moyer earning a 3-1 decision at number one, sophomore Grant Sterman capturing a 3-0 win at two and junior Andrew Wei taking a 3-0 victory at three.
The Bears showed strength at numbers 7 through nine with Pitaro taking his marathon match at seven, 3-2, followed by senior Blake Gilbert-Bono, 3-1 at eight, and freshman Raghav Pemmireddy, 3-0 at nine.
Brown plays at #1 Harvard on Friday evening in Cambridge (6pm), and completes its home season on Sunday, February 9 with a 12:00 noon match-up against Dartmouth at the Kate Brodsky Squash Pavilion.
