
Gymnastics Scores 191.400 in Quad Meet at New Hampshire

DURHAM, N.H. – Sophomore Sophia Petrillo finished third in the all-around with a 37.475, and Brown University gymnastics placed fourth with a 191.400 in a quad meet at the University of New Hampshire with West Virginia University and George Washington University on Saturday night at Lundholm Gymnasium.

Competing as an all-around competitor for the fourth time out of five meets this season, Petrillo (Stoneham, Mass.) took third place with her 37.475. Freshman Ella Poley (Newton, Mass.) came in second in her collegiate debut on bars with a 9.775.

As a team, Brown scored a 47.700 on vault, 48.325 on bars, 47.675 on beam, and 47.600 on floor.

In the team standings, the host Wildcats won the meet with a 195.850, West Virginia came in second with a 195.075, George Washington placed third with a 192.900, and Brown finished fourth with its 191.400.

"Even though our team score went down a bit tonight, we still have a lot that we can build off and are looking forward to getting right back in the gym for our second home meet tomorrow night," Brown head coach Sara Carver-Milne said.

Junior Alyssa Gardner (Angola, N.Y.) paced the Bears on vault with a 9.725 while Poley and fellow freshman Jasmine Lee (Bremerton, Wash.) each scored a career-high 9.525. Freshman Lauren Lazaro (Wellesley, Mass.) tallied a 9.475, and Petrillo added a season-high 9.450.

On bars, Poley led the way with her career-high 9.775 in her collegiate debut in the event. Senior Erin Howell (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) compiled a season-best 9.700, Petrillo and junior Emma Hansen (Cincinnati, Ohio) each posted a 9.675, and junior Caroline Warren (Pawleys Island, S.C.) notched a season-high 9.600.

Lee and Hansen each earned the Bears' top score on beam with a 9.725 apiece. Lazaro followed with a 9.725, and Petrillo registered a 9.600.

On floor, Lazaro paced Brown with a 9.775. Howell and junior Rose Domonoske (Park City, Utah) each scored a 9.700, matching a season high for Domonoske, while Gardner recorded a 9.675.

Next, Brown hosts Bridgeport and Southern Connecticut State tomorrow – Sunday, Feb. 9 – at 6:00 p.m.
