Princeton, N.J. – Brown came into Saturday night's game against Princeton riding a five game winning streak and looking to earn its third consecutive Ivy League weekend sweep. The Tigers had other thoughts, building a 13-point halftime lead on their way to a 73-54 win over the Bears at Jadwin Gymnasium.
The Bears fall to third place in the Ivy League standings at 12-9 overall, 5-3 in Ivy play, while Princeton vaults into a first place tie at 11-10 overall, 6-2 in the conference.
"I thought Princeton was the more aggressive team at both ends of the court," said Brown head coach Mike Martin. "We struggled at both ends. I'm confident we will learn from this and have a good week to get ready to the next one."
Senior Brandon Anderson (Mahwah, NJ) paced the Bears with 16 points, while senior Zach Hunsaker (North Salt Lake City, UT) added 12 points and five rebounds. Brown junior Tamenang Choh (Lowell, MA) chipped in with eight points and added eight rebounds.
Princeton guard Ethan Wright scored 16 of his game high 21 points in the first half, shooting 9-of-10 from the field overall, including 3-of-4 from beyond the three-point arc. Richmond Aririguzoh also didn't miss a shot for the Tigers, scoring 13 points and connected on 5-of-5 field goals.
The Tigers shot the ball well (53-percent), connecting on 28-of-53 field goals, while Brown was held to 36-percent shooting from the field (21-of-58).
Princeton had the better of play in the opening 20 minutes, grabbing its largest lead at intermission, 37-24, after a late layup by Aririguzoh. Brown got into foul trouble with sophomore center Jaylan Gainey, the Ivy leader in blocked shots, picking up his third foul just nine minutes into the game.
The Tigers came out of the locker room with a 7-2 run to build a 44-26 advantage at the 17:04 mark following a trey by Rosan Evbuomwan. Princeton's led by as many as 20 points in the second half, 52-32, following a trey by Jose Morales with 12:22 remaining.
Brown continues its four-game road trip with a tour of the Empire State next weekend, traveling to New York City to face Columbia on Friday, February 21 at 7:00 pm, and Ithaca, NY to battle Cornell on Saturday, February 22 at 6:00 pm. Watch all the action on ESPN+ or listen on WPRV AM 790.
