Brown Outlook
The men's team took seventh at Heps last season and Princeton claimed the team championship. Owen Russell has finished in the top three in the hammer throw at every Ivy championship in his career and owns the second-best mark in the league this season at 214-3. Also in the field, Joe Grula and Nigel Despinasse both own top-five league marks this season in the javelin and shot put, respectively, and Jason Katz took third in the long jump last season.
Â
Bretram Rogers has put together a solid sophomore campaign and will look to add points in the 110 hurdles after he posted a time of 14.10 in Atlanta for the second-best time in program history. Zachary Lanigan recorded a time of 1:50.31 in the 800 meters for fifth-best in the league this season.
Â
The women's side also finished seventh in 2018 and Penn captured the team championship. Carly Paul is back to defend her title in the heptathlon and set a league record in the event earlier this season with 5,632 total points at the Tennessee Relays. Brown also owns three of the top five long jump marks in the league heading into Heps, led by Ijeoma Uche, who set a school record of 20-7 at the Raleigh Relays. Rookies Jae Crawford and Erin McMeniman will look to contribute in the discus and javelin, respectively.
Â
Zion Lewis owns top-five marks in both jumping events and will also look to contribute in the sprints, while May Stern captured an Ivy title in the indoor season and heads into the weekend with a top-five time in the 400 meters. Brown set a pair of school records in the relays last year and will aim for another set of impressive performances after the 4x100 set a new school record in April.
Â
After Heps, Brown will compete at the IC4A/ECAC Championships the following weekend.
