
Track & Field Earns 10 Bids to NCAA East Preliminary Meet

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's and women's track & field programs had nine student-athletes earn ten entries for the NCAA East Preliminary round, announced by the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track & Field Selection Committee.

The event will take place on May 23-25 at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida.

The preliminary rounds are divided into two regions, East and West. The top 12 finishers of each region will earn a trip to the NCAA National Championships on June 5-8 in Austin, Texas.

The women's side had five athletes earn six entries, led by two from Carly Paul, who qualified in the high jump and long jump for the second straight year. Zion Lewis, Ijeoma Uche and Rachel McMahon, who swept the top three spots in the long jump at the Ivy League championship, also qualified to give Brown four selections in the event. In addition, Samantha Valentine earned a spot in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

For the men's team, Owen Russell and Michael Coppolino both qualified in the hammer throw, after the duo finished second and third, respectively, at the Ivy championship. Bretram Rogers earned a spot in the 110-meter hurdles and Cameron Daly qualified in the 5,000 meters.
