Softball Honors Seniors, Presents Awards at Annual Team Banquet

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University softball and head coach Kate Refsnyder recognized the team's five seniors and six award winners as part of the Bears' annual year-end banquet at Federal Hill Pizza on Friday night.

Senior Cat Seitz (Poway, Calif.) won the program's Most Valuable Player award while sophomore Madi Cranford (Escondido, Calif.) captured the team's Most Improved Player award. Freshman Lauren Innerst (San Jose, Calif.) took home the team's Most Outstanding First-Year award.

Senior Meghan Wimmer (Boothwyn, Pa.) claimed the program's Bruno Award, to the student-athlete who best exemplifies the heart, dedication, and determination of a Brown softball player. Freshman Madeline Charles (Fillmore, Calif.) earned the team's Unsung Hero Award, and sophomore Katie O'Leary (Manteca, Calif.) gained the Zucconi Stength Award for the second straight year.

Seniors Ashli Lotz (Austin, Texas), Annie Scarangella (Tucson, Ariz.), Cat Seitz (Poway, Calif.), Sofia Venegas (La Mirada, Calif.), and Meghan Wimmer (Boothwn, Pa.) earned their white letter sweaters, the traditional gift bestowed upon Brown's seniors.
