
Men's Squash Presents Team Awards, Names Team Captains and Announces Class of 2023

Providence, R.I. - The Brown men's squash team wrapped up its season with the annual Squash Team Banquet at the Faculty Club in Providence, R.I., with the presentation of team awards, the naming of captains for the 2019-20 season and the announcement of the incoming Class of 2023. Â

There were several awards received, including the Best Record at the Team Nationals which went to Ben Caraballo '19, who at this year's team championships won three matches against Amherst, Middlebury and MIT.

Caraballo won the Most Improved Player award for a record third time. The  Quint Stevenson Memorial MVP award was awarded to Philip Demeulenaere '19, and Alexander Chase '19 and Palak Goel '19 were the recipients of the Coaches Award.

The team and coaches also recognized five players who received the CSA Scholar Athlete Awards that are awarded to those student-athletes that have played in 50% or more of the matches and have a 3.5 GPA or better. Earning CSA Scholar-Athlete Awards were Co-captains Demeulenaere and  Goel,  along with Caraballo, Nicholas Pitaro '20 and Blake Gilbert- Bono '20.Â

Head coach Stuart le Gassick also announced Tri- captains for the 2019-20 season -Â Pitaro, Gilbert- Bono and Harrison Boyer '20.

The Brown team thanked the seniors Goel, Demeulenaere, Caraballo and Alexander Chase for their leadership, commitment and efforts on and off the squash courts over their careers at Brown.

Coach Stuart leGassick's squad looks forward to the arrival of the freshmen in the fall: Raghav Pemmireddy from Lawrenceville NJ, Amin Chotoo from Providence Day School, Charlotte, NC,  and Raphael Benamram, an International Baccalauréat from Lycée International, Saint-Germain-en-Laye (Paris, France).

The squash program is looking forward to the Graduation weekend this May. On Friday, May 24, 2019, the team will host an Alumni reunion in the late afternoon, between 5pm and 7pm, at the Pizzitola Squash Courts, prior to Campus Dance.
