
Softball’s Cranford Earns Ivy League Player of the Week Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University softball sophomore catcher Madi Cranford has gained Ivy League Player of the Week honors after hitting .875 last weekend at the District Classic in Washington, D.C., the Ivy League conference office announced on Monday.
A native of Escondido, Calif., Cranford posted a .875 batting average (7-for-8), 1.125 slugging percentage, and .923 on-base percentage last week, while adding three RBIs, two doubles, four walks, and a run.
In the Bears' season opening weekend, the team captain went 3-for-3 with an RBI, a double, a walk, and a hit-by-pitch against Georgetown, finished 2-for-3 vs. St. Joseph's, and posted two RBIs and a double vs. Howard.
Cranford and the Bears next play at the North Carolina A&T Aggie Invitational from Mar. 8-10, competing against Rider (Mar. 8, 9:30 a.m.), N.C. A&T (Mar. 8, 2:30 p.m.), Alabama A&M (Mar. 9, 2:30 p.m.), and Rider (Mar. 10, 9:30 a.m.).
