
Women’s Lacrosse Hosts Pair of Non-Conference Games this Weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's lacrosse team will host back-to-back non-conference games at Stevenson-Pincince Field on Saturday, March 30 and Sunday, March 31. Sacred Heart will come to town on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. game while Fresno State closes out the weekend's action on Sunday at noon. Both games will be streamed live on ESPN+ while Sunday's contest will also appear live on NESNplus.

BROWN HOSTS VS CANCER FUNDRAISER THIS WEEEKEND
Both of Brown's games this weekend will be a part of the team's Vs. Cancer event where the Bears will be raising funds for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation's Vs. Cancer program. Since 2013, Vs. Cancer has worked with hundreds of athletes and teams like Brown lacrosse to fight the deadliest disease facing our country's children – pediatric cancer. The Bears will be collecting donations at both contests and through this link. Half of the team's fundraising proceeds will support child life programs at Hasbo Children's Hospital, and the other half will help fund groundbreaking research to cure pediatric brain tumors, the deadliest childhood cancer.
BEAR LEADERS
Sophomore Risa Mosenthal leads the Bears in both goals and points with 37 goals and six assists for 43 points. Sophomore Maggie Fowler ranks second on the team in scoring with a squad best 17 assists and six goals for 23 points. Junior Emma DeGennaro comes in at third with 19 goals and two assists for 21 points. Mosenthal leads the Ivy League in goals and is second in points while Fowler is third in assists. Defensively, sophomore Mason Warble has a team high 17 caused turnovers, good for second in the conference while she is also tied for fourth in the league in ground balls (2.75 per game) with teammate Erin Tucker. Tucker has started all nine games in net and has put together a 13.37 goals-against average and a .412 save percentage. She leads the conference in saves (9.50 per game) and has registered double-digit stops in six contests this year.
MOSENTHAL ADDED TO TEWAARATON WATCH LIST
Sophomore attack Risa Mosenthal was added to the Tewaaraton Watch List in the first round of additions last Thursday (Mar. 21) in an announced by the organization. Mosenthal leads Brown in goals (37) and points (43). The Campton, N.H. native has recorded at least a hat trick in eight of Brown's nine games this season and has registered at least two goals in every career game (24 games played). Mosenthal leads the Ivy League in goals, shots (8.38 per game) and free-position goals (15) and is second in points. Nationally, Mosenthal is fourth in free-position goals (1.88 per game.), fifth in goals (4.25 per game) and tied for 11th in points (5.0 per game). As a freshman, Mosenthal led the Bears in scoring with 64 points while also notching a team-high 55 goals on her way to Second Team All-Ivy honors.
LAST TIME OUT
Brown was defeated by No. 17 Florida, 22-11, on Tuesday night at Donald R. Dizney Stadium. The Gators built a 12-6 lead by halftime and took the second half by a 10-5 margin. Freshman Claire Jeschke led Brown in scoring with a career-high five points on two goals and three assists. Sophomore Risa Mosenthal added her eighth hat trick of the season while freshman Alaina Parisella and junior Emma DeGennaro each chipped in two scores.
ALL-TIME VS. SACRED HEART
The Bears are 9-1 in the all-time series versus the Pioneers. Brown won last season's meeting, 15-4, in Fairfield, Conn. while Sacred Heart's lone win of the series came in 2016 (13-9) on its home field.
ALL-TIME VS. FRESNO STATE
Sunday will be the first ever meeting between the Bears and Bulldogs. Brown has a 3-6 record against California schools, having previously played Cal (1-2), San Diego State (0-2), USC (1-0) and Stanford (2-2).
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
Sacred Heart is 1-7 this season, picking up its lone win against UMass Lowell, 11-8, on Mar. 16. The Pioneers have dropped two-straight, falling last week at Fairfield (12-11, Mar. 20) and Hofstra (11-4, Mar. 23). Cassie Cesario and Hanna Wise share the team's point lead with 18. Cesario's points have come on 11 goals and seven assists while all of Wise's points are on goals (18). Elizabeth Small paces the defense with 17 caused turnovers. In net, Shana Hecht has started all eight games and has recorded a 12.62 goals-against average and a .489 save percentage.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Fresno State brings a 6-3 record into the weekend and will play at Bryant on Friday, Mar. 29. The Bulldogs have won two straight, defeating Radford, 15-14, on Mar. 15 and Quinnipiac, 13-7, on Mar. 17. Tiffiny Wallace leads Fresno State in points with 31 on 21 goals and 10 assists. Sydney Skalstad carries the team's goal lead with 22 and also has five goals to rank second in points (27). Laurel Maunder holds down the goalkeeping duties and has a 13.37 goals-against average and a .508 save percentage.
MOSENTHAL NAMED IVY LEAGUE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sophomore Risa Mosenthal was named the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week on Monday (Mar. 25). It is Mosenthal's second player of the week accolade this season, having also earned the honor on Feb. 18. Mosenthal helped the Bears upset No. 9 Princeton, 12-11, on Saturday with a team-high four goals and one assist. Mosenthal's four scores came on just six shots. She was also 1-for-1 on free-position shots.
BEARS RANK SECOND IN THE IVY LEAGUE IN CAUSED TURNOVERS
Brown ranks second in the Ivy League in caused turnovers, averaging 11.25 per game, trailing only Princeton (11.57). Sophomore Mason Warble leads the Bears with 17 caused turnovers while junior Emily Fryer has 12 and both senior Zoe Verni and freshman Erin Schafer have contributed 11.
