
Women’s Lacrosse Travels to No. 17 Florida on Tuesday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's lacrosse team will travel to No. 17 Florida on Tuesday, March 26 to take on the Gators at 7:00 p.m. at Donald R. Dizney Stadium.

BEAR LEADERS
Sophomore Risa Mosenthal leads the Bears in both goals and points with 34 goals and six assists for 40 points. Sophomore Maggie Fowler ranks second on the team in scoring with a squad best 16 assists and six goals for 20 points. Junior Emma DeGennaro comes in at third with 17 goals and two assists for 19 points. Mosenthal leads the Ivy League in goals and is second in points while Fowler is third in assists. Defensively, sophomore Mason Warble has a team high 16 caused turnovers, good for second in the conference while she is also fourth in the league in ground balls (22). In net, Erin Tucker has started all eight games and has put together a 12.25 goals-against average and a .444 save percentage. She leads the conference in saves (9.50 per game) and has registered double-digit stops in six contests this year.
MOSENTHAL ADDED TO TEWAARATON WATCH LIST
Sophomore attack Risa Mosenthal was added to the Tewaaraton Watch List in the first round of additions last Thursday (Mar. 21) in an announced by the organization. Mosenthal leads Brown in goals (34) and points (40). She is a two-time Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week (Feb. 16, Mar. 25). The Campton, N.H. native has recorded at least a hat trick in seven of Brown's eight games this season and has registered at least two goals in every career game (23 games played). As a freshman, Mosenthal led the Bears in scoring with 64 points while also notching a team-high 55 goals on her way to Second Team All-Ivy honors.
LAST TIME OUT
Brown overcame a 9-2 deficit and went on a 10-2 run the rest of the way to defeat No. 9 Princeton, 12-11, on Saturday at Sherrerd Field at Class of 1952 Stadium. The Bears handed the Tigers their first Ivy loss of the season while improving to 4-4 on the year and 2-1 in the Ivy League while Princeton moves to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play. Trailing 9-2 in the first half, Brown came charging back to take a 10-9 lead at the break with eight-straight goals. After an offensive heavy first, it took 11 minutes for the Bears to open the scoring in the second, with sophomore Risa Mosenthal getting Brown back on the board at 19:36. Freshman Claire Jeschke added a goal at 12:26 and the Bears held the Tigers to just two goals for the remainder (11:36 and 10:42) to hold on for the victory. Mosenthal led Brown with four goals and one assist, her seventh game this season with three or more goals. Senior Zoe Verni added three scores while junior KC Williams contributed two. In net, freshman Erin Tucker came up with 10 saves, including six stops in the second.
ALL-TIME VS. FLORIDA
Tuesday will be the first ever meeting between Brown and Florida. The Bears last traveled to the state in the 2017 season for a neutral-site contest against Louisville on Feb. 25, falling 13-9 in the game.
SCOUTING THE GATORS
Florida is 4-6 on the season and ranks 17th in the IWLCA Coaches Poll. The Gators are coming off of an 11-10 win over No. 17 Stony Brook on March 23. Florida has played a total of eight ranked teams this season and have compiled a 2-6 record against those opponents. Lindsey Ronbeck leads the team in points (44) with a squad-best 38 goals and six assists. Shannon Kavanagh is second in scoring with 30 goals and four assists. Haley Hicklen has started all 10 games in goal and has a 12.33 goals-against average and a .455 save percentage.
MOSENTHAL NAMED IVY LEAGUE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sophomore Risa Mosenthal was named the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week on Monday (March 25). It is Mosenthal's second player of the week accolade this season, having also earned the honor on Feb. 18. Mosenthal helped the Bears upset No. 9 Princeton, 12-11, on Saturday with a team-high four goals and one assist. Mosenthal's four scores came on just six shots. She was also 1-for-1 on free-position shots.
BEARS RANK SECOND IN THE IVY LEAGUE IN CAUSED TURNOVERS
Brown ranks second in the Ivy League in caused turnovers, averaging 11.25 per game, trailing only Princeton (11.57). Sophomore Mason Warble leads the Bears with 16 caused turnovers while freshman Erin Schafer has 11 and three different players add 10 apiece.
