
Gardner Wins Vault, Gymnastics Scores 191.950 at Yale

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sophomore Alyssa Gardner won the vault title, but Brown University gymnastics dropped a 193.775 to 191.950 decision in a dual meet at Yale University on Sunday afternoon at the John J. Lee Amphitheater.
"I'm very proud of senior Morgan Hagenbuch stepping up for the team and competing three events today," Brown head coach Sara Carver-Milne said. "It was her first time in the vault lineup this year and she pulled through in a big way, earning two career highs!"
Gardner (Angola, N.Y.) captured her first vault title of the year behind a season-high 9.700 while freshman Mei Li Costa (Lawrenceville, N.J.) took second place on bars with a 9.850.
As a team, Brown scored a 48.000 on vault, 48.200 on bars, 47.250 on beam, and 48.500 on floor.
On vault, Gardner led the meet with her 9.700, tying her season high, and senior Julia Green (Exton, Pa.) posted a 9.600. Senior Morgan Hagenbuch (Norwich, N.Y.) and Costa each scored a 9.575, a season best for Hagenbuch, and sophomore Kate Nelson (Montara, Calif.) notched a 9.550.
Costa paced the Bears on bars with her 9.850 for second place. Freshman Sophia Petrillo (Stoneham, Mass.) followed her with a 9.750 while Gardner and sophomore Caroline Warren (Pawleys Island, S.C.) each tallied a 9.675, matching a season high for Gardner.
On beam, sophomore Emma Hansen (Cincinnati, Ohio) tied a season best with a 9.675, and Green scored a 9.600. Senior Cassidy Jung (San Marino, Calif.) notched a 9.550, and Petrillo added a 9.300.
Green and sophomore Rose Domonoske (Park City, Utah) each scored a team-high 9.725 on floor, marking a personal best for Domonoske. Freshman Abby Walsh (White Lake, Mich.) tallied a career-high 9.700 while Petrillo and Hagenbuch both registered a 9.675, tying a career high for Hagenbuch.
Next, Brown competes at the Ivy Classic against Cornell, Penn, and Yale on Sunday, Feb. 24 at 1:00 p.m. (ESPN+) at The Palestra in Philadelphia, Pa.
