
Men’s Hockey Hosts No. 8 Cornell, Colgate in Key ECAC Weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – After a pair of road wins, the Brown men's hockey team will look to keep it going at home this weekend when the Bears host No. 8 Cornell (2/15) and Colgate (2/16) at Meehan Auditorium. The games will be broadcast on ESPN+.

Colin Burston and Chris Berger both scored in the third period to lift the Bears over the Tigers, 4-2, while Luke Kania made 32 stops in the win. Ben Taylor had two assists to join Gottlieb (1-1-2) and Burston (1-1-2) with multiple-point efforts. The Bears then scored three goals in the first 3:07 of the third period in an upset win at Quinnipiac the following night. Kania made a career-high 47 saves, including 24 in the third period, while four different players scored for the Bears.
Kania named ECAC Goalie of the Week
Sophomore Luke Kania was named the ECAC Goalie of the Week (2/11) for the first time this season. Kania led the Bears to a pair of ECAC road wins, including one over No. 4 Quinnipiac on Saturday, and finished with a .963 save percentage over the two-game span. The sophomore allowed just three goals over the weekend, stopping 79 of the 82 shots that came his way. In the win over the Bobcats, he stopped a career-high 47 of the 48 shots he faced, allowing his team to come away with a 4-1 win. This is the second Goalie of the Week honor for Brown this season after Gavin Nieto took home the weekly award on January 28.
Scouting Cornell
No. 8 Cornell is unbeaten over its last four games, including a home sweep against Clarkson and St. Lawrence last weekend, and heads into the weekend in first place in the ECAC standings. Morgan Barron is ranked ninth in the ECAC in scoring at 12-15-27 and also leads the team in assists, while Cam Donaldson has 11 goals. Yanni Kaldis is the team's top-scoring defenseman with 18 points. Matthew Galajda (11-5-1) enters Friday with a .918 save percentage and a 1.78 goals-against average, good for second best in the league. Cornell is averaging 3.00 goals per game and is second in the league in scoring defense, limiting opponents to 1.91 goals per contest. Cornell is 24.7 percent on the power play.
