
Women’s Hockey Falls at Dartmouth, 5-2

HANOVER, N.H. - The Brown women's hockey team was defeated by Dartmouth, 5-2, on Friday night at Thompson Arena. Freshman Shay Maloney (McHenry, Ill.) recorded her third multipoint game of the season with a goal and an assist for the Bears.
"You get what you put into it," said head coach Carisa Wahlig. "Tonight's result show what we put into it."
Dartmouth (4-17-1, 3-12-0 ECAC) picked up a quick 1-0 lead when Christina Rombaut scored 25 seconds into the contest. Lotti Odnoga next make it a two-goal advantage for the Big Green with a power-play tally at 8:48 of the period.
Junior Sena Hanson (New Brighton, Minn.) pulled the Brown (5-15-2-2-11-2 ECAC) within one (2-1) 1:09 into the second by putting back a rebound following a power play for her team-leading 12th goal of the season. Freshman Tina Paolillo (East Haven, Conn.) and Maloney recorded the assists on the play.
The Big Green bumped their lead back up to two scores at 16:01 of the second when Jennifer Costa registered a goal. Alyssa Baker then pushed Dartmouth's lead to 4-1 at 17:18.
Brown had a 5-on-3 opportunity to open the third at 1:08 and capitalized with Maloney scoring at 2:20 after gathering the loose puck following two saves by Dartmouth's Christine Honor. Sophomore Kaitijane Blumberg (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) and senior Abby Niewchas (Cochrane, Alberta) picked up the assists.
The Big Green tallied their second power-play goal of the game at 12:16 (Tess Bracken) to claim a 5-2 advantage and would keep the Bears off the board for the remainder of the stanza.
Overall, Brown was 1-for-5 on the power play while Dartmouth was 2-for-5. The Bears outshot the Big Green 35-34 on the night, holding a 12-10 edge in the second and a 13-10 lead in the final frame.
Freshman Hayley Kliczko (Niles, Ill.) concluded the game with 17 saves in two periods of action while junior Calla Isaac (Sherwood Park, Alberta) made 12 stops in the first stanza. Honor contributed 33 saves for Dartmouth.
Brown next closes out the weekend at Harvard tomorrow (Feb. 2) at the Bright-Landry Hockey Center starting at 3:00 p.m.
